Welcome to Something Blue. I’m Hairy Larry and I’ve got the Arkansas Roots Festival for you.

Apple, Rounds, Hees, and Cobb, Keep The Lamp On Sadie
Apple, Rounds, Hees, and Cobb, Silver Wings

All right now, amazing picking and grinning from Apple, Rounds, Hees, and Cobb. We heard “Blue Night”, “Keep The Lamp On Sadie”, and “Silver Wings” recorded for Something Blue at the Arkansas Roots Festival in Jonesboro on April 8, 2017.

Part of the Delta Blues Symposium, the Arkansas Roots Festival is presented by KASU and their Arkansas Roots show that airs at noon from Monday through Saturday. There’s no music like live music and I love having the opportunity to record this great music for you. Whether it’s Arkansas Roots, Delta Blues, the Memphis Sound, or great jazz the musicians around here love to play it and we all love to put it on the air.

Something Blue is broadcast on KASU, 91.9 FM and streaming on the internet at http://kasu.org.

I’m Hairy Larry, host of Something Blue. Visit the Something Blue website at http://sbblues.com to listen anytime.

Next up we have Vikki McGee 3 and The Natural Disasters with their fantastic blend of acoustic instruments and heavenly harmonies. Here’s “Can’t Let Go”.

Vikki McGee 3 and The Natural Disasters, Dearly Departed
Vikki McGee 3 and The Natural Disasters, Raise Hell

Oh yeah, great music from the Arkansas Roots Festival with Vikki McGee 3 and The Natural Disasters. That was “Raise Hell” and before that we heard “Dearly Departed”.

Jazz In The Loft at The Edge Coffeehouse is another fine Jonesboro festival. On May 6, 2017, my Recital Band played two pieces I wrote. From Jazz In The Loft here’s “Groucho’s Cigar”.

Sky City, Rain Song
Sky City, A Blessing And A Curse

And that’s one of my favorite bands, Sky City, recorded at the Arkansas Roots Festival. We heard “Rain Song” and “A Blessing And A Curse”. These are the live versions of two songs from their “Quantico Traveler” CD.

Something Blue is broadcast on KASU, 91.9 FM and streaming on the internet at http://kasu.org.

I’m Hairy Larry, host of Something Blue and I have two suggestions if you want to keep up with live music in Northeast Arkansas. To find out who’s playing where check out the Arkansas Roots facebook page and the Delta Boogie facebook page.

Now here’s Sweet Angel singing “Woke Up With A Fool On My Hands”.

Sweet Angel, Woke Up With A Fool On My Hands
Sweet Angel, I Can’t Walk Away
Sweet Angel, Juking At The Hole In The Wall

Now that’s what I”m talking about. It’s Sweet Angel and she’s got the blues for you. That was “Juking At The Hole In The Wall” and before that we heard “I Can’t Walk Away”.

Closing the show here’s my Recital Band playing another original, “Phantasmagorical”.
