Welcome to Something Blue. I’m Hairy Larry and tonight I’m featuring the Jess Hoggard Band recorded live at Bluesday Tuesday at the Newport Country Club on July 12, 2011. As you can hear they had a great night, everybody was up and dancing, enjoying the music.
We heard “High Heeled Sneakers”, “Today I Started Loving You Again”, and “Under The Boardwalk” featuring Charles Wood on vocals. Jess and Charles both sing leads and they almost always have the harmonies going too. Ivan Yarbrough plays bass and Cecil Parker on drums both have extensive Blues and R&B credentials. And Tim Hoggard played the harp for us all night.
I’m Hairy Larry and you’re listeing to Something Blue on KASU, 91.9 FM and streaming on the internet at kasu.org. To find out more about Something Blue and to listen to podcasts anytime go to sbblues.com. You can friend or message me on facebook or on the Delta Boogie Network at deltaboogie.net. And you can find Jess Hoggard on MySpace and Facebook.
There’s no music like live music and KASU sponsors Bluesday Tuesday in Newport every month. They also bring you Blue Monday, Bluegrass Monday and Jazz Thursday. The music is always great so put your dancing shoes on and come on out.
Here’s three more songs I know you will love. “Can I Change Your Mind”, Let’s Get It On”, and “Blue Suede Shoes”.

Now that’s what I’m talking about. It’s the Jess Hoggard Band and they’ve got the Blues, for you. The entire show tonight was recorded at KASU’s Bluesday Tuesday held every second Tuesday at the Newport Country Club. It’s always a party and we partied hearty with the Jess Hoggard Band.
We heard Jess sing “Catfish Blues”, “Sweet Home Chicago”, and “Key To The Highway”. It’s a great band and it was a special treat to have Jesse’s brother, Tim Hoggard, blowing the harp. They are both great showmen and they have been featured on Something Blue many times.
I’m Hairy Larry and you’re listening to Somthing Blue on KASU, the home of the Blues in Northeast Arkansas every Saturday night. Tune in on your radio at 91.9 FM or listen on the internet at kasu.org. Don’t miss Beale Street Caravan at 7:00, Rhythm & Grooves at 8:00, and Blues Where You Least Expect It at 9:00. Then after Something Blue stay tuned for Smokestack Lightning playing the Blues on into the morning.
And you can visit the Something Blue website at sbblues.com. Listen to podcasts of the shows online anytime and follow the links to find more great music on the internet.
Closing the show tonight I’ve got three more songs. Everybody was out on the floor “Twisting The Night Away”. Then for an encore the Jess Hoggard Band played an Arkansas medley with “Folsum Prison Blues” and “Mystery Train”. So now’s the time for all of you at home to stand up, enjoy this next song, and twist.
