This is Hairy Larry inviting you to enjoy Something Blue every Saturday night at ten. This week we’ll hear 7 Walkers and The Back-Talk Organ Trio.

Don’t miss Something Blue, Saturday night at ten, right here on KASU.

Something Blue – Walkers

7 Walkers – King Cotton Blues

Welcome to Something Blue. I’m Hairy Larry and we’re enjoying the 7 Walkers recorded live at Salmonstock at the Kenai Peninsula Fairgrounds in Ninilchik, Alaska, recorded on August 6, 2011. What a remarkable sound with Bill Kreutzmann on drums, Papa Mali, guitar and vocals, Kirk Joseph, sousaphone and Matt Hubbard on keyboards, horns, harmonica, and vocals.

We heard “King Cotton Blues”. Here they are again with “Early In The Morning”.

7 Walkers – Early in the Morning

Now that’s what I’m talking about. It’s 7 Walkers singing “Early In The Morning”.

You’re listening to KASU, 91.9 FM and streaming on the internet at kasu.org.

I’m Hairy Larry, host of Something Blue. You can find out more about the show and listen to podcasts anytime at the Something Blue website, sbblues.com. And you can friend me or message me at Facebook or on the Delta Boogie Network, at deltaboogie.net

You can find out more about 7 Walkers at 7walkers.com which starts with the number 7. And you can hear more 7 Walkers concerts at the Live Music Archive at archive.org.

They’ve got a unique sound, Louisiana Blues all the way through. I’ve got one more song for you from this same great show and it’s a good one. Here it is now, “Death Don’t Have No Mercy”

The Back-Talk Organ Trio – Blues For J (Jimmy Smith)

The Back-Talk Organ Trio – Midnight Special (Jimmy Smith)

All right now, it’s The Back-Talk Organ Trio recorded live at The Elmdale House Tavern on November 4, 2011. Featuring Don Cummings on the Hammond B3 they’ve got their Jimmy Smith down. We heard two Jimmy Smith songs, “Blues For J” and “Midnight Special”.

You’re listening to KASU, 91.9 FM and streaming on the internet at kasu.org.

I’m Hairy Larry, host of Something Blue and we’re going to close with The Back-Talk Organ trio plus guests. We’ll hear Iyono Ede sing a Billie Holiday song, “All Or Nothing At All”. Then saxman, Ian Babb, will join them for “Silk ‘n Soul”.
