Welcome to Something Blue. I’m Hairy Larry and we’re surfing the blues with Mermen.
Mermen – The Silly Elephant Who Stomped

Now that’s what I’m talking about, “The Silly Elephant Who Stomped Tea”. Before that we heard “Driving The Cow”. Yes it’s Mermen, live. Recorded at the Stork Club in Oakland, California, on November 23, 2012. They got guitars and they won’t quit.
Something Blue is broadcast on KASU, 91.9 FM and streaming on the internet at kasu.org.
I’m Hairy Larry, host of Something Blue. Friend me or message me on Facebook or on the Delta Boogie Network at deltaboogie.net. For more about the show check out the Something Blue website at sbblues.com where you can hear podcasts anytime. And you can find out more about the Mermen at mermen.net where they have photos, videos, and more songs for you to listen to.
On their website they say “The Mermen’s style of music has been called a lot of things, surf, rock, psychedelic, ambient, psychobilly, thrash, punk, new-age…and really, it may be all of those things.” They left out blues but that’s not because there’s no blues in there. Just one of those oversights, I guess.
Now here’s one more from the Mermen, a song called “The Goodbye”.
