Something Blue – Shinola

John Scofield, Dr Jackle

Welcome to Something Blue. I’m Hairy Larry and I’ve got the blues, for you.

Derek Trucks Band, D Minor

All right now, it’s the Derek Trucks Band playing “D Minor”. Kicking us off we heard John Scofield play “Dr Jackle” from his 1981 live release, “Shinola”. Two amazing guitarists both well versed in jazz and the blues.

Something Blue is broadcast on KASU, 91.9 FM and streaming on the internet at kasu.org.

I’m Hairy Larry, host of Something Blue. Visit the Something Blue website at sbblues.com to listen anytime.

Now here’s two more from John Scofield, “Jean The Bean” and “Rags To Riches”. Then we’ll hear another song from Derek Trucks, “6 Dance”.

Now that’s what I’m talking about, it’s Background Orcs doing “Gnome Groan” and “Tronchkin”. Background Orcs explore fantasy geekdom with their funky jazz. They were recorded live at Camp Coldbrook in Barre, Massachusetts, on June 14, 2014.
