Sam Rivers, Rejuvenation
Welcome to Something Blue. I’m Hairy Larry and I’ve got the blues, for you.
Sam Rivers, Inspiration
All right now, that’s “Rejuvenation” and “Inspiration” from Sam Rivers. Rivers was raised in Little Rock, Arkansas, and he made a place for himself in the free jazz movement playing with some of the finest musicians in the world both as a sideman and as a leader. On the “Inspiration” CD he mixes free jazz with a big band sound.
Something Blue is broadcast on KASU, 91.9 FM and streaming on the internet at kasu.org.
I’m Hairy Larry, host of Something Blue and I’ve got one more from this same album. Here’s Sam Rivers playing “Nebula”.
