Sky City, Greasy Creek

Welcome to Something Blue. I’m Hairy Larry and I’ve got the blues, for you.

Tea Cup Gin, Underground Love
Sky City, Quantico Traveler

All right now that’s the title track from the new Sky City CD, “Quantico Traveler”. Kicking us off they sang “Greasy Creek” and then we heard Tea Cup Gin do “Underground Love”.

Something Blue is broadcast on KASU, 91.9 FM and streaming on the internet at kasu.org.

I’m Hairy Larry, host of Something Blue and I’m pleased to be playing some great songs from the new Sky City CD. Here’s one of my favorites, “Younger Hearts”. Then we’ll hear Tea Cup Gin play “Memory” and “Caravan”.

Jim Aldridge, Caldonia
Sonny Burgess and The Legendary Pacers, Down In The Alley

Oh yeah, that’s Sonny Burgess and The Legendary Pacers doing “Down In The Alley”. Before that we heard Jim Aldridge sing the Louis Jordan song, “Caldonia”. We’re dancing to some old time rock and roll just like we did at Sonny Burgess’ Birthday party. Sonny is 87 years old and he’s still rocking.

The whole band is fantastic. Reformed in 1996 Sonny Burgess and The Legendary Pacers have been touring the world with their great Arkansas music. Jim Aldridge plays tenor sax and harmonica and he sings all the great rock songs in less than five minutes. Kern Kennedy is one of the finest piano pickers in the business. Fred Douglas holds down the bass while he sings Merle Haggard and Johnny Cash songs. Bobby Crafford beats on the drums and shows off the versatilty of his rock and roll voice with “Ain’t Got No Home”. Sonny Burgess holds it all together with his hot licks and his gritty voice.

Here he is now singing “Blue Highway”.

Kern Kennedy, Truck Stop
Sonny Burgess and The Legendary Pacers, Betty Lou

Now that’s what I’m talking about, Sonny Burgess and The Legendary Pacers telling us about “Betty Lou”. Before that Kern Kennedy played “Truck Stop”.

Something Blue is broadcast on KASU, 91.9 FM and streaming on the internet at kasu.org.

I’m Hairy Larry, host of Something Blue. Friend me or message me on Facebook or on the Delta Boogie Network at deltaboogie.net. Visit the Something Blue website at sbblues.com to listen anytime. There’s no music like live music and KASU puts on a lot of great shows. Check us out at kasu.org.

The rock and roll never stops in Northeast Arkansas. Here’s Tommy Timms singing a Willie Nelson song, “Funny How Time Slips Away”.

Doug Greeno, Girl Like You

Doug Greeno recorded “Girl Like You” in the sixties with the King’s IV and he’s still rocking today with the Zyndall Raney band. Now here’s Sonny Burgess with “By-Hokey-Doodle” and then we’ll close with the King’s IV playing “Let’s All Get It”.
