Wally Fowler, What’s Going On

Welcome to Something Blue. I’m Hairy Larry and I’ve got the blues, for you.

Jazz Writer’s Big Band, Bring It On Home

Now that’s what I’m talking about. “Bring It On Home” is a Joseph Curtis original played by the Jazz Writer’s Big Band in Pocahontas, Arkansas, on May 21, 2016. Before that we heard Wally Fowler sing “What’s Going On” with the big band.

Something Blue is broadcast on KASU, 91.9 FM and streaming on the internet at kasu.org.

I’m Hairy Larry, host of Something Blue. Friend me or message me on Facebook or on the Delta Boogie Network at deltaboogie.net. There’s no music like live music and it is part of KASU’s mission to promote and present real music by real people, that you know. It really thrills me to record this amazing local jazz for you to hear. Now here’s Lisa Ahia singing “My Funny Valentine” with the Jazz Writer’s Big Band followed by Bebop Beatniks doing “There Will Never Be Another You” at the Brookland United Methodist Jazz Picnic.

All right now, two more from the Jazz Writer’s Big Band, a Tom O’Connor arrangement of “Grey Waltz” and a Don Bowyer original, “The Joke Of The Same Name”.

I found this fantastic jazz act, Stacey & Alan, on reverbnation. Alan plays guitar and Stacey sings. Here’s Stacey singing “Night and Day” and “Gee Baby Ain’t I Good To You”. Bebop Beatniks are Kevin Tinker, Paul Nunis, and myself. Playing with us at the Jazz Picnic were Sid Davis, Matt Burnside, Chris Isom, Jay Shepherd, and Joseph Curtis. Closing the show Bebop Beatniks play the John Coltrane song “Impressions”.
