There’s no music like live music which is why I love playing recordings of live concerts on Something Blue. Live music isn’t just better than recorded music, it’s a completely different thing. A life experience as opposed to background entertainment.
Sometimes a band playing a concert transcends even the live music experience and delivers an amazing message. They fulfill their art or bring the magic as I like to say. This happened on February 10, 2019 when Jerry Joseph and the Jackmormons at a special show with guest musicians onstage played a medley of “We Will Go Down”, “Good Sunday”, and “Love Train”. If you listen closely to the lyrics you will hear Jerry Joseph saluting Bob Dylan and Van Morrison. This is appropriate because the only songs I can compare this to are “Sad Eyed Lady Of The Lowlands” and “Astral Weeks”. I’m going to play the whole thing now, uninterrupted, Jerry Joseph and the Jackmormons recorded live at the Laurelthirst Public House in Portland, Oregon. Just listen to this.
Jerry Joseph and the Jackmormons, We Will Go Down/Good Sunday/Love Train
Now that’s what I’m talking about, Jerry Joseph and the Jackmormons playing a medley of “We Will Go Down”, “Good Sunday”, and “Love Train”. Featuring guest stars Mike Walker on organ and Lewi Longmire, electric guitar, delivering the message you can dance in faith or you can dance in doubt but if you dance in love that’s a different thing. Thanks to the Live Music Archive at archive.org for hosting the concerts we heard tonight. For more visit the Something Blue website at sbblues.com. Remember, blues is the mainstream.
