Guy Venable and Eric Hughes at KASU Bluesday Tuesday
Thanks Marty, today we’re going to hear some Jug Band Music recorded at KASU Bluesday Tuesday.
On February 8, 2011 Eric Hughes and Guy Venable gave us a great show playing blues, country, folk and jug band. Jug band music has been one of my favorite styles since the sixties when I used to listen to Jim Kweskin with Maria Muldaur. Eric and Guy didn’t let me down.
I met Guy Venable when he came to Blues Fest one year and I’m not really sure when I met Eric Hughes but it was before 2011 so I was primed for the event. They are both fine outstanding musicians so I had no worries. They laid down a great show, start to finish, and it remains a pearl in my collection.
Eric worked with me after the show too and created an account at the Live Music Archive where I uploaded the entire concert. Visit the Something Blue website at sbblues.com for a link or just go to archive.org and search on Eric Hughes.
I play in a Jug Band, the Emporium Orkestra, and I always love it when I hear someone else singing one of the songs we love to play. So, here we go with Eric Hughes and Guy Venable playing “That’ll Never Happen No More”.
