Apple, Rounds, Hees, and Cobb, Wait A Minute
Apple, Rounds, Hees, and Cobb, Daniel

All right now that’s Apple, Rounds, Hees, and Cobb doing the Elton John song, “Daniel”. Before that they sang “Wait A Minute”. And kicking us off tonight we heard The Vikki McGee 3 and The Natural Disasters do “Midnight Rider” and “Dust Cloud”. The Vikki McGee 3 includes Sonny Campbell and Jacob Brumley. The Natural Disasters are John T. Parks and Sarah Jo Roark. All of the music on the show tonight was recorded at the Arkansas Roots Festival held in Jonesboro at the City Water and Light Park on April 8, 2017.

Something Blue is broadcast on KASU, 91.9 FM and streaming on the internet at kasu.org.

I’m Hairy Larry, host of Something Blue. Visit the Something Blue website at sbblues.com to listen to the shows anytime and for links to the featured musicians. There’s no music like live music and KASU plays local musicians on Something Blue and Arkansas Roots as well as promoting live music at shows like the Arkansas Roots Festival. The festival was sponsored by KASU, the ASU Department of English, Philosophy, and World Languages, and the West End Neighborhood Association. There was so much great music played that day that this is my second show featuring the recordings that I made for Something Blue.

Ok, coming up next it’s Sky City playing “Dark Edge Of Town” and “Highway Home”.

Sky City, Highway Home

Great music from Sky City at the Arkansas Roots Festival. That was “Highway Home”. Now here’s Hees, the bass player with Apple, Rounds, Hees, and Cobb doing an amazing arrangement of “Amazing Grace”.

Sweet Angel, Thrill Is Real

Now that’s what I’m talking about, Sweet Angel singing “Thrill Is Real”. Closing the Arkansas Roots Festival Sweet Angel and her band really brought the blues home. She’s the real deal and gave us a great show topping of a great day.

Now here’s Jonesboro’s own Sky City singing “Tumbleweed”.

Vikki McGee 3 and The Natural Disasters, Scarlet Begonias

Oh yeah, it’s the Vikki McGee 3 and the Natural Disasters doing the Grateful Dead song, “Scarlet Begonias”. They know I’m a deadhead and I have to admit, I loved it when they dedicated the song to me.

Something Blue is broadcast on KASU, 91.9 FM and streaming on the internet at kasu.org.
