Eilen Jewell, Fading Memory

Welcome to Something Blue. I’m Hairy Larry and I’ve got the blues, for you.

Eilen Jewell, Down Hearted Blues

All right now, that’s Eilen Jewell with the “Down Hearted Blues”. Kicking us off she sang “Fading Memory”. Eilen Jewell was recorded live at the Sportsmens Tavern in Buffalo, New York, on June 2, 2019. I love Eilen Jewell and she inspired me to put together this show of country blues.

When Vince Gill was 18 years old he played in a band called Lazy River. I found these recordings on the Live Music Archive recorded on August 15, 1976 at the at Oak Street Pub in Birmingham, Alabama. Here they are now with a Dylan song, “I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight”.

Lazy River, Cowboy Song

And that was Lazy River singing “Cowboy Song”.

Something Blue is broadcast on KASU, 91.9 FM and streaming on the internet at kasu.org.

Neville Jacobs was recorded live at the Brooklyn Bowl on June 1, 2019. Here he is now doing “Heartbreak Road” and “City Rain”.

Now that’s what I’m talking about, that’s Eilen Jewell singing “High Shelf Booze”. Before that Paul Moore sang “I’m Gonna Drive” and “Pages Of Yesterday”.

Paul Moore’s new album is called “Pages Of Yesterday” and it is a tribute to songwriter Jimmy Ford. Jimmy’s daughter, Dory Rebekah Ford sings with Paul on the CD. Here they are now with “The Good Times Have All Come And Gone”. Then closing the show we’ll hear Lazy River sing “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry” and Neville Jacobs will do “Makeup Of A Fool”. But now, here’s Paul and Dory singing Jimmy Ford.
