From The Archive May 2, 2021 – Plain Meanness – “Pipeline”

Thanks Marty, this week on From The Archives we’ve got another song from Blue Monday.

If there was ever a band you could call eclectic it’s Plain Meanness. They play more variety in one set than you are likely to hear at an entire festival. I recorded them at KASU Blue Monday in Paragould, Arkansas, on October 17, 2011 and they tore it up. Every style, every genre, from Al Green to Dylan to The Ventures.

Playing that night were Patrick Dailey, guitar; Corey Emerson, trombone; Derek Doyle, bass; and Greg Arnold, drums. All local musicians well known in the community. I will be featuring more of their music on Something Blue but for today I picked “Pipeline”, a guitar instrumental classic from the sixties. Just listen to Patrick Dailey nail it.
