Thanks Marty, this week on From The Archives Of Something Blue we’ll hear a jazz standard recorded at the public library.
Two of my favorite musicians from Northeast Arkansas are Gary Gazaway and Lisa Ahia. They were booked to perform at the Jonesboro public library on June 4, 2013, so I grabbed my recording gear and my camera and drove to town for the show.
Gary and Lisa live in Pocahontas. Gary has played his trumpet all over the world and Lisa is a fantastic jazz singer. Playing with them were Jonesboro residents, Joy Sanford on piano and David Eckert, bass. All of these musicians have helped with the KASU Christmas shows in Pocahontas.
Listening to the recording of Gary introducing the song he reminded me that I had heard Lisa sing the song just a week earlier at Joe Lee’s funeral. So, going out to the public library, all the musicians, and Joe Lee here’s Lisa Ahia singing “That’s All”.
