Caprice, 58th and 34th Street
Charlie Hunter, Track 2
Now that’s what I”m talking about, Charlie Hunter playing “Track 2”. Charlie Hunter and Scott Amendola were recorded live at Creative Alliance in Baltimore, Maryland, on November 21, 2021. Both Hunter and Amendola are outstanding improvisors, often improvising entire concerts. Not just the solos, they improvise the whole song.
Before that we heard Caprice play “58th and 34th Street” from their album “From Dawn Til Dusk”. The song written by Tim Moore is called “58th and 34th Street” because it uses 5/8 and 3/4 time. The musicians in Caprice were all students in the ASU Jazz Program at the time they recorded this fantastic album of all original compositions.
Something Blue is broadcast on KASU, 91.9 FM and streaming on the internet at kasu.org.
