Yes Mam Family Band, Wake Me Up

Welcome to Something Blue. I’m Hairy Larry and I’ve got the blues, for you.

Seth Yacovone Band, The Weary Oar

Now that’s what I’m talking about. That’s the Seth Yacovone band singing “The Weary Oar”, a cross between a sea shanty and the blues. Before that we heard the Yes Mam Family Band do “Wake Me Up”. The Yes Mam Family Band featuring Donna Hopkins was recorded live at The Moonshadow Tavern in Tucker, Georgia, on January 19, 2025.

Something Blue is broadcast on KASU, 91.9 FM and streaming on the internet at kasu.org. There is also a KASU app or Alexis play KASU.

I’m Hairy Larry, host of Something Blue. Visit the Something Blue Website at sbblues.com to listen anytime and for links to the concerts we’re hearing tonight.

Ok now, the Seth Yacovone Band was recorded at Nectar’s in Burlington, Vermont, on December 27, 2024. Here they are now singing “Once There Was A Way”. Then we’ll hear Isaac Hadden and Friends play an instrumental recorded live at the Parkway Brewing Company in Salem, Virginia, on January 18, 2025.

Seth Yacovone Band, Wage

All right now, that’s the Seth Yacovone Band singing “Wage”. Before that we heard Isaac Hadden and Friends do “Boogie on Reggae Woman”.

Something Blue is broadcast on KASU, 91.9 FM and streaming on the internet at kasu.org.

I’m Hairy Larry, host of Something Blue. Thanks to the Live Music Archive at archive.org for hosting the concerts we’re hearing tonight.

The Yes Mam Family Band is an amazing group of mostly women. I’m going to play an extended excerpt from the concert including the banter where the songwriters talk about their work. So, closing the show here’s “Dirty Alabama Road” and “That’s Gonna Leave A Mark”.
