Thanks Marty, today we’re going to hear a song I wrote recorded at Stage Too.
So, I had been playing chill jazz piano on Saturday nights from 5:00 to 6:00 at Stage Too, a small club at Main and Monroe in Jonesboro, Arkansas. It turned out that on December 6 they didn’t have anything planned at 6:00 so Brian Nobles told me we could play longer. I sent an email to some of the musicians I had been recording with and with the Christmas season being what it is we ended up with a trio, Eliecer Tamez on trumpet, Paul Nunis on bass, and I was on piano.
We played good and I recorded the sets. Since we all played in #jazz #blues #fusion I released it as an album. The band is larger now but back then we often played as a quartet so this was an accidental trio.
One of the songs we played was “White Rats And Meerkats” which was first released on my album “1625 Groove Street” and is now a favorite whenever #jazz #blues #fusion performs.
The recording of “White Rats And Meerkats” that night, as a trio, without drums, had a completely different sound than the other recordings of the song I had made so I decided it would be a good choice for “From The Archives Of Something Blue” on Arkansas Roots.
So now, recorded for Something Blue on December 6, 2025, here’s the #jazz, #blues #fusion trio playing “White Rats And Meerkats”.
