All right now, we’re listening to Bela Fleck and the Flecktones recorded live at The Grand Emporium in Kansas City, Missouri, on February 4, 1992. We heard “Blu-Bop” and “Royal Garden Blues”. Bela Fleck brings bluegrass instrumentation to an eclectic blend including a lot of jazz and blues.

Something Blue is broadcast on KASU, 91.9 FM and streaming on the internet at kasu.org.

I’m Hairy Larry, host of Something Blue and I’d like to launch right back into some more Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. Here’s “Sunset Road” and “Bonnie and Slyde”.

Now that’s what I’m talking about. It’s the French Quarter Band playing “Dallas Blues”.

Before that we heard “Dippermouth Blues”. The French Quarter Band was recorded live at Bull’s Head in Castleton, Derbyshire, England, in 1990. The French Quarter Band was a traditional New Orleans style Dixieland jazz band formed in the early 1970’s and based in Manchester in England.

Now here’s “Panama”.

Closing the show here’s the French Quarter Band with “Travellin’ Blues” and “Tin Roof Blues”. Until next time this is Hairy Larry reminding you once again, blues is the mainstream.
