Jay Shepherd, Freddy Freeloader

Welcome to Something Blue. I’m Hairy Larry and I’ve got the blues, for you.

Bluestar, Pass The Blues
Bluestar, The Polar Bear Blues

All right now, that’s Bluestar with “The Polar Bear Blues”. Besides being musicians and songwriters Joe Aloisa and Rich Russom are animal rights activists raising awareness about the plight of polar bears impacted by global warming. Before that they did “Pass The Blues” and kicking us off tonight we heard Jay Shepherd playing the Miles Davis song, “Freddie Freeloader” recorded at the Delta Jazz Camp right here in Jonesboro.

Something Blue is broadcast on KASU, 91.9 FM and streaming on the internet at kasu.org.

OK now, here’s another jazz composer, Bryan McCune playing “Mallaig” and “Seventy 5”.

Dave Gordon Quintet, Allotta Bees

Now that’s what I’m talking about, it’s the David Gordan Quintet playing “Alotta Bees”. I love the horns and I love hearing David playing blues piano, jazz style.

Something Blue is broadcast on KASU, 91.9 FM and streaming on the internet at kasu.org.
