Welcome to Something Blue, I’m Hairy Larry and I’ve got the blues, for you.

Sam Ahia and Charles Haynes, When Sunny Gets Blue
C3 Big Band, The Next Time I See You

Oh yeah, that was the C3 Big Band playing “The Next Time I See You”. Kicking us off tonight Suzanne Michell sang her own song, “Moses Lived On The Corner”. And then we heard Sam Ahia and Charles Haynes play “When Sunny Gets Blue”.

The C3 Big Band plays original charts. I’m playing three songs by them tonight from their CD “Straight Eighths” all written by Michael Medrick who teaches at ASU in the Jazz Department.

Something Blue is broadcast on KASU, 91.9 FM and streaming on the internet at kasu.org.

Ok, now, coming right up we’ll hear Suzanne Michell sing “Moonglow” and then Sam Ahia and Charles Haynes will play “Black Orpheus”.

C3 Big Band, Or Maybe May
Sam Ahia and Charles Haynes, Autumn In New York

Now that’s what I’m talking about, we heard the C3 Big Band play “Or Maybe May” followed by Sam Ahia and Charles Haynes doing “Autumn In New York”. The Sam Ahia songs on the show tonight are from the CD, “Jazz On A New Year’s Day”. Sam is a jazz guitar legend from Hawaii who has recently been performing in Northeast Arkansas.

Something Blue is broadcast on KASU, 91.9 FM and streaming on the internet at kasu.org.

I’m Hairy Larry, host of Something Blue. The featured musicians tonight have all performed live in Northeast Arkansas at KASU events or other ASU concerts. There’s no music like live music and you can keep up with all the KASU concerts at kasu.org.

Suzanne Michell and Fred Wilson gave me a copy of their CD, “Sheer Lunacy” the last time they came to Jonesboro to play. From that CD here’s Suzanne singing “Over The Rainbow”. Then closing the show we’ll hear the C3 Big Band play a Michael Medrick composition, “Just What I Needed To Know”.
