BlueStar Radiation, Locomotive Breath
Welcome to Something Blue. I’m Hairy Larry and I’ve got the blues, for you.
John Kadlecik Band, Forever Young
Now that’s what I’m talking about, the John Kadlecik Band playing the Dylan song, “Forever Young”. John Kadlecik was recorded live at The Hamilton in Washington, D.C. on November 24, 2021. After Jerry Garcia died Kadlecik played with Grateful Dead members, Phil Lesh and Bob Weir, in the band Furthur. He is also co-founder of the group Dark Star Orchestra.
Kicking us off tonight we heard BlueStar Radiation play the Jethro Tull song, “Locomotive Breath”.
Something Blue is broadcast on KASU, 91.9 FM and streaming on the internet at kasu.org.
I’m Hairy Larry, host of Something Blue. Visit the Something Blue website at sbblues.com to listen anytime and to hear the From The Archives Of Something Blue podcasts that air on Arkansas Roots.
I love blues, rock, and blues-rock and this week we’re getting all three. Coming up next here’s BlueStar Radiation playing “Bloody Well Right”.

BlueStar Radiation, Black Magic Woman
John Kadlecik Band, Midnight Moonlight
All right now, that’s the John Kadlecik Band playing “Midnight Moonlight”. I love the harmony vocals.
Before that we heard BlueStar Radiation play the Peter Green song, “Black Magic Woman” in the style of Carlos Santana. BlueStar Radiation is Rob Derhak, bass and vocals; Tim Palmieri, gitar and vocals; Nate Wilson, keys, flute, and vocals; and Vinnie Amico, drums. To find them on the Live Music Archive search on Tim Palmieri.
Something Blue is broadcast on KASU, 91.9 FM and streaming on the internet at kasu.org.
I’m Hairy Larry, host of Something Blue. Thanks to the Live Music Archive at archive.org for hosting the concerts we’re hearing tonight.
I want to mention that I’ve been playing at the Craighead Forest Bandshell again. They refurbished the bandshell with new siding and it looks great. The shows are scheduled based on the weather and so they are very short notice. I play chill jazz piano with my iRealpro backing tracks or with Bebop Beatniks or Jazz Buskers. If you want to be notified about these shows sign up to the Delta Boogie email list at deltaboogie.com.
Ok now, closing the show here’s the John Kadlecik Band playing The Temptations classic, “The Way You Do The Things You Do”. Until next time this is Hairy Larry reminding you once again, blues is the mainstream.
