Welcome to Something Blue. I’m Hairy Larry and I’ve got the blues, for you.
Oscar Peterson And Sonny Stitt – Blues For Pres, Sweets, Ben And All The Other Funky Ones
Duke Ellington, Backward Country Boy Blues
Now that’s what I’m talking about. That was “Backward Country Boy Blues” from the classic album, “Money Jungle” featuring Duke Ellington, Charles Mingus, and Max Roach. Kicking us off tonight we heard Erroll Garner play “Trio” and Oscar Peterson and Sonny Stitt did “Blues For Pres, Sweets, Ben And All The Other Funky Ones”.
Something Blue is broadcast on KASU, 91.9 FM and streaming on the internet at kasu.org.

Marshall Allen has a new album on bandcamp where it says in the liner notes,
“Two days after his 100th birthday, Marshall Allen started recording New Dawn, his debut solo album. A member of Sun Ra’s Arkestra since 1958, Allen assumed leadership of the band in 1995. Throughout his nearly seventy-year career, Allen has never released a solo album under his own name, and yet, instead of capping such a legendary output, New Dawn seems to herald a new beginning.”
So now from his album, “New Dawn”, Marshall Allen has the blues for you. Here’s “Are You Ready” and “African Sunset”.
