Sweet Magnolia Band – Mountain Song-Wishin Well

Welcome to Something Blue. I’m Hairy Larry and I’ve got the blues, for you.

Essie Neal – Private Lessons With BB King
Sweet Magnolia Band – 10 Days Over 23 Years

Now that’s what I’m talking about. We heard Sweet Magnolia Band sing “Mountain Song-Wishin Well” and “10 Days Over 23 Years”. Sweet Magnolia Band was a Little Rock act that recorded their self titled album in 1973. My friend, John Good, sent me a CD with the tracks digitized from the LP.

Sandwiched in between there we heard Essie “The Blues Lady” Neal play the blues while she sang about her “Private Lessons With BB King”.

Something Blue is broadcast on KASU, 91.9 FM and streaming on the internet at kasu.org.

Coming up next we’ll hear John Good and Friends sing “Hurricane”, Essie Neal will do her original song “Which Way Did My Friends Go”, and then John Good and Friends will play “Willie and the Hand Jive”.

Suzanne Michell – God Bless The Child

All right now, that’s Suzanne Michell playing “God Bless The Child” from her album “Winter Interlude” recorded on her Steinway Baby Grand at her teaching studio in Little Rock. Before that John Good and Friends sang “Remedy” and Sweet Magnolia Band did “Lay Back And Take It Easy”. I want to thank John Good for helping with this wonderful Arkansas music by the Sweet Magnolia Band.
